By Section 14 of Perak Order in Council 2 of 95, as amended by section 4 of Regulations of 9 Sept 03, it provides that for pension service full pay shall count as service on leave without salary, such leave being granted on grounds of "public policy" for a period not exceeding 3 years during which an officer is absent.

As to Johnston

(of 16 July 02)

The Hong Kong Regulations contain a similar clause to above except that the period is 1 year instead of 3 years.
